A Little More About Neil

Over the last few years, San Carlos has embarked upon transformative change. From unprecedented demand in biotech and housing development, to the reimagining of downtown, San Carlos has established itself as one of the major cities on the peninsula to work, live, and invest. Therefore, the City Council will need leaders who can bring groups together to solve the issues that arise with the changes. I am that leader.

I have been extremely lucky throughout my life. I grew up in a loving home, the son of a Del Monte cannery manager and a public school teacher. I’ve been educated by a tremendous public system all the way through law school. I find meaning and purpose in my career as a Prosecutor in the Santa Clara District Attorneys’ Office. I have two joyful, active daughters and a loving, supportive wife. We live in a vibrant, beautiful, and safe community into which we feel deeply rooted. San Carlos is a community I want to support through service. That service began with my 7 years of work as a School Board Trustee and I hope will extend to the work of the City Council. When I’m not throwing soft balls for the girls or working on behalf of San Carlos students, I’m an avid sports fan, golfer, and traveler.

My experience on committees and Boards within San Carlos allows me to hit the ground running from day one.  I have a deep understanding of the policies and direction of the City and how City policies are affected by other agencies, such as the Schools and County.

Additionally, as a Deputy District Attorney, I will always consider our policies and decisions through a public safety lens.  Cities cannot grow and succeed if crime interferes.  Therefore, I will bring a law enforcement background that will help shape laws and policies for the City.
